"What a brave and ambitious project that Partido Pelos Animais represents, how timely and urgent. As we round the corner of conservation and head towards adaptation, there must be recognition on a governmental level of the connectedness between the food we eat, the waste we make, animal welfare, endangered species, and the environment. These issues are absolutely inextricable from each other. If sincere and fundamental solutions are to be sought, one issue can not be addressed without the others. And not one of these issues can afford to be left unaddressed by our governments.

Around the world, we have heard from environmentalists and eco-entrepreneurs on the forefront of the very technology that could turn our worldwide ecological crisis in a new direction. They have told us that to be successful, they urgently need governmental support. In America, we have yet to see drastic changes made by our officials. But in the Netherlands, Partij voor de Dieren (Party for the Animals) did not wait. And in Portugal, Partido Pelos Animais is refusing to wait. I am proud to watch as they set another example for the rest of the world’s political parties about the most urgent of priorities. Time is short and there is not a minute to waste.
